Sustainability Events & Associations
As part of our commitment to leadership in energy efficiency and sustainability, Johnson Controls participates in a variety of important events and works with like-minded organizations on a local, national and international basis. Because we believe in acting locally and having a positive impact on our communities, most local memberships and activities are driven by our local employees, who live and work in over 75 countries and thousands of communities worldwide.
On a national basis, Johnson Controls and USEA have co-sponsored the Energy Efficiency Forum in Washington D.C for 20 years. We have kept energy efficiency on the agenda in Washington by involving congress, government agencies, NGOs and key customers in a policy discussion each year designed to remind people that efficiency should be an important national priority – even in years when the cost of energy is low and there is a tendency to forget the need to reduce our environmental impact and reliance on foreign sources of oil.
In addition to the US Energy Association, some of the most effective organizations we support are the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI), the Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders, and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

At the 2008 Greenbuild Show, Johnson Controls announced a new award program designed to recognize individuals who have been leaders in the energy efficiency and renewable energy movements over many years.
